Celebrating the Small Things

Celebrate blog hopIt’s been since July since I last did a celebrate post and a lot has changed since then. I’ve left the Bay Beacon to work for Cafe Bienville so I can focus on my own writing. That has worked.

Since I left, I’ve published The Braid, The Heaven Grift and The Literary Lizard, illustrated by Robin Wiesneth from A Brush With Humor.

My October story is Perantulas! and it’s in the edit stage. I’ve also started my own online newspaper, The Panhandle Focus, and published that twice.

I’m trying my hand at screenwriting and Perantulas! is going to be a short horror film produced by Loren Boyer to enter in StokerCon‘s Lucky Th1rt3en film competition. I love my job at Cafe Bienville—it is the perfect place for artists and authors. It’s full of creative energy and I always feel recharged whenever I go there.

I had an opportunity to speak to a group of about 20 or so people about Writing as Therapy and learned some things about my own writing as I shared it. I was nervous how it would go, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience.

I’ve also lost over 25 pounds since May! I think by my official weigh-in tomorrow morning I may have lost four pounds this week alone. I’ve never felt so great in my life.

So many little things to celebrate! Things are pretty exciting right now. I keep getting nervous that all this new activity is going to overwhelm me, but I’m going for it and, as Krewilla says, enjoy the ride. My biggest blessing are all the wonderful people that are sharing the ride with me—I am truly blessed :)
