The two things that have been on my mind lately is my friend Vicky and money. You may remember that I switched jobs last month so that I could have bigger paychecks. I took a pay cut for the new job but the increase in hours was going to make up for the smaller hourly wage.
That has worked out in theory, but when I received my first full paycheck I was thrown for a loop. After I’d paid the bills I had $10 left over to stretch over the next two weeks. Part of the problem is that I have to wait two weeks in between checks and this check was quickly absorbed due to the extra moving expenses. All the utilities included last month as well as the present month and transfer fees. Ouch. The result of all this has been one very unhappy and bitter Angela over the last few days.
I think I’ve come to grips with my friend’s illness in my mind so now it’s time to tackle the money issue. I’ve already gone to my new boss, explained my lack of funds and requested a full-time position. We’ll see what happens with that. I’m also going to treat this like a challenge. I know we can get by on $10, it’s just going to be interesting to see how.
I guess we’re taking the term “starving artist” to a whole new level over the next two weeks…!
